elevator

The crisis of loneliness post-pandemic–I know about it all too well.

I experienced the closest person in my life suffer from crippling isolation after the effects of quarantine. I witnessed how it can erode one’s spirit… For myself, working alone day-after-day in an art studio can be eerily quiet sometimes. My antidote for this has been community.

At the tail-end of 2021, I began managing a quirky building of former nursing dormitories in downtown Jersey City. I became the studio’s director and we re-named the space “elevator” with the hopes that it elevates people: their creativity, their friendships, and their overall sense of well-being.

The building is home to creatives of all kinds: painters, musicians, writers, craftspeople… I’m lucky to have my studio in a place filled with so much warmth, art, and inspiring people.
